ATKINS DIET

The Atkins Diet is made up of Four Phases. Phase One, The Induction Phase which lasts for 2 weeks. This phase is the jumpstart of the program which helps ou reducing carbs and helps burn fats. No more than 20 grams of carbs can be consumed during this phase. Fruit, grains, pasta, starchy veggies and breads must be avoided. Cheese, cream and butter are allowed. Caffeine should be limited and drinking lots of water is recommended. This phase must be followed exactly the way it describes or it will not lead to weight loss.

Phase Two is an Ongoing Weight Loss which gradually introduces carbs. This pace is slower and more steady. This phase will boost the body's ability to burn fat, make better carb choices and adjust to permanent weight mgmt. This phase is recommended to continue until you are within 5 to 10 pounds of your goal. A total of 25 carbs are allowed during this phase.

Phase Three is Pre-Maintenance where you are taking control of your new healthy eating habits. The carb allotment is increased by a total of 10 carbs every week as long as the weight loss continues.

Phase Four is Lifetime Maintenance. This is the final stage in which weight must be maintained by following a similar diet in phase three.

You can find many Atkins products in many of the grocery stores which includes ice cream, breakfast and candy bars. All of these are low in sugar, high in fiber and contains no trans fats.
